Call for Action

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers Disaster Response Coordinator has put out a call for Volunteer Ministers to travel to Haiti, in response to the January 12, 2010, magnitude 7.3 earthquake. Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive estimates the death toll from the earthquake, which destroyed most of the Capital City of Port-au-Prince, could reach hundreds of thousands.

Volunteer Ministers Working at Haitian Embassy

Since the January 12, 2010, earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Scientology Volunteer Ministers have worked alongside the Haitian Relief Committee at the Haitian Embassy in Washington, DC, providing assistance in locating families and organizing relief efforts.

Volunteer ministers are at work daily at the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in coordination with the Greater Washington DC Haitian Relief Committee delivering what is needed and wanted, including much needed spiritual and emotional care Assists.

Mayor Recognizes Scientology Volunteers

Mayor of Torino Certificate of Merit in recognition of the Scientology Community Civil Protection Association (PRO.CIVI.COS) for the civil defense and relief work undertaken on behalf of the Village of San Giacomo and the City of L'Aqauila, hit by the earthquake of April 6, 2009.

Torino, Italy-The Mayor of Torino, Sergio Chiamparino, honored ten civil protection associations that aided the people of L'Aquila and surrounding villages following the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck the area leaving  1,500 injured, an estimated 28,000 homeless and 300 dead.  Among those recognized was the Scientology Community Civil Protection Association (PRO.CIVI.COS) composed of 170 volunteers who contributed more than 35,000 man-hours in service to the community.
